Trained as a biologist and natural historian, Robb Hirsch developed an intimate relationship with the natural world. He traveled around the world absorbing the beauty and gaining a deep understanding of his surroundings. Intermittently he worked as a field biologist on a diverse array of projects for USGS, California State Parks and several private biologists. Photography was originally a tool to document and educate others about the natural world and the importance of wild places. As he continued to shoot he became more critical, realizing with the quality of the images he was producing, there might be a market for this work in the future. The “future” became a reality when he and his wifeRegina started Mountain Sagein Groveland,CA; a unique combination of fine art gallery, plant nursery and gardens, organic coffee and tea house and retail store, located in a historic 1867 family house. His work is on display in several gallery rooms throughout the house.

Robb enjoys photographing everything in the outdoors: from wildlife to wildflowers, and grand landscapes to tiny abstracts. His images are known for their careful compositions, fine light and compelling subjects.
